A WRITING PARTNER WITH PATIENCE

AI Book Writer
Make room for your story.

Build your outline, develop your characters, and shape your manuscript one chapter at a time. Bring the idea. Keep your voice.

Try a starting point

Free manual workspace. AI generation is not yet available in the public preview.

A MANAGEABLE NEXT STEP

A book takes shape one decision at a time.

A blank manuscript becomes easier to approach when you know what comes next.

  1. Find the central idea

Name your main character, what they want, and what stands in their way. Choose a genre and manuscript language, then open your writing workspace.

  2. Give each chapter a purpose

Set a working title, cast, story summary, and chapter goals. Add world rules and a timeline. Review the outline and confirm the direction before drafting with AI.

  3. Write, read, and revise

Work on one chapter at a time. Reorder scenes, keep continuity notes, and save versions before a major change. You decide which words belong in the manuscript.

  4. Prepare your edition

Add your author name, choose a template cover, and check the manuscript. Download an edition ZIP, then review the files in your reader and word processor.

THE STORY BEHIND THE CHAPTERS

Give every chapter a reason to be there.

Start with a character who wants something. Decide what they risk, which choice changes their course, and what the ending needs to resolve. Keep those decisions beside your draft.

  • A cast with motivations. Keep names, roles, and character details together.
  • A direction for each chapter. Edit goals and move chapters as the story changes.
  • A world you can keep track of. Record rules, a timeline, and unresolved threads.

ROOM TO CHANGE YOUR MIND

Keep the draft moving. Keep the choices yours.

Write a scene, read it back, and try another direction without losing the thread.

Work at chapter scale

Give one scene your attention. Keep a summary of what happened and mark a chapter reviewed when you are ready to move on.

Save before you experiment

Keep version snapshots before a major rewrite. Use session undo and redo, or restore a saved version when an earlier draft worked better.

Revisit the details

Changes mark affected chapters for review. Check the continuity yourself, update your notes, and resolve loose ends before exporting.

YOUR MANUSCRIPT, BEYOND THE WORKSPACE

One edition. The files to keep working.

Choose a template cover, add your author name, and run the manuscript check. Your download gathers the book and its supporting files into one ZIP.

Missing titles, authors, or chapter text need attention before export. Review warnings, then check the downloaded files in an ebook reader and word processor.

Export helps you prepare a book. Publishing still needs your editorial review and the checks required by your chosen platform.

FIND A FIRST CHAPTER

See where a small idea can lead.

Read these original TaleFinch sample openings. Each is an illustrative excerpt you can explore or copy into a workspace, not a claim of a finished AI-generated book.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Questions about writing your book.

What can I do with the AI Book Writer today?

The public preview includes the manual book workspace: plan your story, edit chapters, save versions, create a template cover, and export your manuscript. AI outlining and chapter drafting are in development and are not yet available in the public preview.

Does the first button generate a complete book?

No. Start my book opens a workspace with your idea, genre, language, and a basic three-part outline to edit. You can develop it into your own chapter plan. It does not submit an AI request or write a finished manuscript.

Can I change the outline or write everything myself?

Yes. Edit the cast, chapter titles, chapter goals, and story notes. Add or reorder chapters and write the prose yourself. If you change a confirmed outline, confirm the new direction again before using the AI drafting workflow when it becomes available.

Which languages and book lengths can I work with?

Choose from 36 manuscript languages, including English, Spanish, French, Chinese, and Japanese. The workspace offers target lengths from 3,000 to 15,000 words or Han characters. These are planning targets, not fixed ebook page counts; actual page length depends on the reader’s screen and font settings.

Where is my book saved?

Your manuscript is saved in this browser on this device. Download project backups before clearing browser data or changing devices. Cloud copies, when the account service is configured, are saved explicitly from the workspace; they are not automatic synchronization.

Can I return to an earlier draft?

Yes. Save a version before trying a new direction, then restore it from the workspace. TaleFinch keeps up to ten saved versions per project, alongside undo and redo during an editing session. Download separate backups for work you want to keep long term.

What kind of cover and files will I get?

Choose one of three template cover styles and add your title and author name. The edition ZIP includes EPUB, DOCX, a PNG cover, Markdown, a project backup, metadata, a preflight report, and an upload checklist. AI-generated book cover artwork is not available yet.

Is an exported book ready to publish automatically?

Export is a preparation step. Read every chapter, check the cover and metadata, and open the EPUB and DOCX in the applications your readers will use. The built-in preflight flags missing content and review issues; it does not guarantee platform acceptance, rights clearance, or sales.

Do I need to buy credits to start?

No. Manual writing, local saving, template covers, and exports are available in this preview without buying credits. Paid subscriptions and credit purchases are not open yet. The pricing page describes preview plans, not an active checkout.

START WITH THE PIECE YOU HAVE

A title, a person, or a turning point.

YOU DO NOT NEED EVERY ANSWER YET

Begin with the idea that keeps coming back.

A character, a place, or an unanswered question is enough to start shaping a book.
